Vice Ganda criticizes politicians for reliance on relief goods as flooding solution

The video quickly went viral, striking a chord with many who feel that distributing relief goods is only a temporary fix and that more sustainable solutions are needed to address the country’s recurring flooding issues.

Comedian and TV host Vice Ganda took to social media to criticize the continued lack of long-term solutions to the country’s persistent flooding problems, calling out some politicians for relying solely on the distribution of relief goods.

In a TikTok video, Vice Ganda shared a montage of severe flooding incidents in the Philippines, which transitioned into a comedic skit where he portrayed a fictional public servant named “YorMEME.”

During the skit, “YorMEME” is interviewed by a reporter who asks about the official’s actions following a flood that occurred five years ago.

The reporter then inquires about the response to another flood last year. Again, “YorMEME” repeats the same solution: “Kitang-kita ko ang pagdurusa ng mga constituent ko kaya naman namigay ulit ako ng relief goods.”

As the interview progresses, the reporter brings up the most recent flooding and questions “YorMEME” on the plans to address it. The character, with a hint of sarcasm, replies, “Of course, of course, of course, hindi ko sila puwedeng pabayaan.

“YorMEME” goes on to say, “Solusyon?

Vice Ganda captioned the video with a biting remark: “Make me SWIM, lubog sa WATER! ‘Pag bumabaha, relief ang answer!”
