Map Reveals World’s ‘Most Racist’ Countries

Coming from the World Value Survey, which measured the social approaches of people in different countries, as reported by the Washington post sometime of May a year ago, a surprising data with a map of the world’s ‘most racist’ countries is revealed.

The survey inquired the individual’s opinion on what types of people would they refuse to live within their neighbourhood. Consequently, a count has been done to reveal mainly how many people chose the option ‘people of a different race’ as a percentage for each country.

In light with this, researchers mentioned that societies where most number of people who said that they don’t want other races to be neighbours with can be directly reflected to a country with less racial tolerance.

OVERVIEW OF THE RESULTS

Britain, as the survey said, is one of the most racially tolerant countries on the globe.

Accordingly, the global social approach study revealed that most racially intolerant populations are in Jordan and India in the top five.

By contrast, the study of 80 countries over the last three decades showed that Western countries were the most accepting of other cultures with Britain, the U.S., Canada and Australia more tolerant than everywhere else.

THE LEAST RACIALLY TOLERANT COUNTRIES

  • 40% + (of individuals surveyed would not want a person of another race as a neighbour) – India, Jordan
  • 30 – 39.9% – Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Vietnam, Indonesia, South Korea
  • 20 – 39.9% – France, Turkey, Bulgaria, Algeria, Morocco, Mali, Zambia, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Bangladesh, Hong Kong

THE MOST TOLERANT COUNTRIES

  • 0 to 4.9% – United States, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Guatemala, Britain, Sweden, Norway, Latvia, Australia, New Zealand
  • 5 – 9.9% – Chile, Peru, Mexico, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Belarus, Croatia, Japan, Pakistan, South Africa
  • 10 – 14.9% – Finland, Poland, Ukraine, Italy, Greece, Czech Republic, Slovakia
  • 15 – 19.9% – Venezuela, Hungary, Serbia, Romania, Macedonia, Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Russia, China

THE DOUBT OF THOMAS

Despite the results, some have pointed out glitches in the survey informations, saying that since the polls took a long period of time, they are mostly unreliable to existing approaches.

Moreover, a serious fault could be seen in the circumstance that in most Western countries, the topic of racism is a great taboo that many people will conceal their intolerance and lie to the inquirers.

Max Fisher from the Washington Post said that, maybe ‘Americans are conditioned by their education and media to keep these sorts of racial preferences private, i.e. to lie about them on surveys, in a way that Indians might not be’.
