Jackson, Michigan – Filipino MMA Fighter Mike Pantangco, who was obviously winning an amateur MMA fight taps out suddenly as he realized that his opponent will never do it for himself – that got him worried as he’d hurt him bad, so he did.
Displaying a tremendous act of sportsmanship, Mike Pantangco decided to call off the fight that took place in the Prison City Fight League.
At the interview, Pantangco made his point clearer in a heavy accent, he says “I just feel that there’s no point in fighting him because he didn’t train against me and I didn’t train for him and I just feel like we’re amateur fighters. We don’t get money. We don’t get paid … And I know that the only thing [that’d happen] is him to go to the hospital or get hurt. I just feel terrible so I’m just going to give him the win.”
And as the For The Win of USA Today says…
…his logic makes all the sense in the world. The fighters weren’t getting paid, his opponent was too tough/stupid to end it, and he didn’t want to seriously hurt the guy. It was a class move.
