It is natural for brothers and sisters to be close with each other, having quality times together, tickling, and wrestling each other in bed.
But what if it turns out to be a quality time in private, tickling each other out of urges of desire, and using the bed in an immoral manner? Will our society be able to handle this kind of problem?
There was a time where in ancient Egypt, incest is practice as a means of perpetuating the royal lineage. From a religious context the marriage of Cain to her sister Awan has been described by some writers to be the first incest.
The worst impact of this kind of relationship is the INBREEDING on the children of an incestuous sex. Children whose biological parents have a close genetic relationship are prone to the increase risk of having congenital disorders, death, and disability. Meaning having this kind of relationship exposed an unborn child to a miserable life, not to mention all the insults he/she is to have from those people around which might cause a emotional trauma and the possibility of growing up hard headed bearing hate not only for those people around him but also to his/her biological parents. A third-degree relationship such as half-aunt, half-nephew, and first cousins share 12.5% of genes, and sexual relationship between them is viewed differently in various cultures from being discouraged to being socially acceptable, however having a relationship with a first-degree relatives such as parents or siblings who shares 50% DNA are almost universally forbidden.
But what can the church say about this kind of matter? Does the bible indorse incest?
It is alleged that whereas the practice of “incest” is condemned in the Law of Moses, there appear to be cases in scripture where it is sanctioned. Abraham married his half-sister (Genesis 20:12), and both Isaac and Jacob married kinsmen (Genesis 22:20ff; 24:4; 24:43). Paul is said to have given his permission for a man to marry his own daughter (1 Corinthians 7:36-38). But now in our modern society incest is discouraged due to its “immorality” according to the church, Specifically in our Filipino culture which is very religious this kind of practices is not tolerated, Parents do no not encourage their children to do such thing, but in some cases there are some despite all the words and teachings both from their parents in from the society there are still some who practices this kind of relationship, they are considered by some to be victims of a strong genetic attraction.
There are those who opposes and there are some who understands but whoever might be right about the matter we really cannot say, God in all his knowledge is the only one who really knows what is right from wrong.
