Jaen Province, Spain – 42 year old Dario Barrio, a famous Spanish TV chef, was participating in the Andalucian International Air Festival at Jaen when the horrible tragedy took place.
The tragic accident happened when Dario’s parachute malfunctioned and failed to open. A horrifying video captured the the final moments of Dario Barrio as he crashed into a cliff face in Jaen’s Sierra Segura mountain range. Paramedics were immediately summoned into the scene, but were unable to revive him.
Organizers of the event have suspended all remaining skydiving events in the festival, saying that they ‘deeply regret’ the accident.
The celebrity Spanish TV chef, who began cooking just at the age of 14, became famous after appearing on the television program ‘Todos contra el chef’ – or Everyone against the chef.
Eventually, his friends and colleagues expressed in Twitter their deepest sorrows. While celebrated US chef Jose Andres stated that ‘the sky will eat much better’ and comedian Goyo Jimenez said that he was very much ‘in shock.’
