I had a chance to see the movie, Transformers: Age of Extinction. It was marvelously made. As expected, the high-end special effects were the “real deal”. The movie had a lot of ups and downs. Normally, a movie only has a few extreme culminations coupled with several tiresome scenes.
This Transformers sequel unluckily had a little too many of those due to it being quite an amazingly long movie enough for some to lose their enthusiasm. For those who have not seen the movie yet or are still planning to see the movie, I’ve made a brief movie summary to this drawn out film.
Although the world have been rescued from evil forces, cities were left ruined because of the chaotic skirmish that occurred in the past. This type of setting is where the Transformers: Age of Extinction movie started rolling. A primeval yet prevailing perilous adversaries landed on Earth and formed a connivance with a certain baffling organization. A geek (almost good-for-nothing) scientist/ inventor (Mark Wahlberg) encountered and unexpectedly befriended Optimus Prime and other Autobots survivors. Together, they have encountered a number of battles (with the clash between Optimus Prime and Galvatron as the most highlighted scene) and death defying “cat and mouse” pursuit in order to once again save mankind.
Some notable Hollywood stars who participated in the movie were Mark Wahlberg as Cade Yeager, Nicola Peltz as Tessa Yeager, Jack Reynor as Shane Dyson, Stanley Tucci as Joshua Joyce. And in case you are wondering who voiced over Optimus Prime’s character, he’s no other than Peter Cullen. Other casts that I forgot to mention here are intentionally omitted by me since they will have their names shown on the movies “Cast of Characters” anyway.
The Transformers 4 I think is the best Transformer movie that I have ever seen so far. The special effects were on par with the best sci-fi movies today’s modern technology has to offer. The plot of the movie is somewhat shallow. If you are looking for a movie with trivial plot twists, then Transformers 4 is not the right way to go. I had a few moments wherein I enjoyed the movie because of some comedic relief showed by Mark Wahlberg’s friend or assistant who was unfortunately killed. (Spoiler Alert!) His death marked the start of a more serious movie flow with occasional vivacious scenes like Mark Wahlberg’s confrontation with her daughter’s boyfriend.
And as expected, it really isn’t an outstanding movie which deserved a stellar recognition. It also have some shortcomings which is inevitable given the fact that its Director, Michael Bay probably aimed at making us be awed in the movies astonishing fight scenes rather than keep our minds from constantly thinking and guessing about the movie’s account.
The dreadfully long fight scenes made me have forty winks and just snapped out of my placid nap after the fight has ended. There are some irrelevant fight scenes which were probably inserted just to prolong the movie or to give us more time to enjoy the wonders of watching an army of robots fighting each other. It is, if truth be told worth every cents of our hard earned money, we get to see one movie which is almost as long as two regular movies combined.
Another thing which made me a little bit repugnant was the over exposure of China especially Hong Kong. Yes we know that Michael Bay and Transformers’ movie producers are targeting the market of the tremendously populated Chinese lands but they made it exceedingly obvious that they are leaning towards pleasing the Chinese movie goers. It was a good tactical move on their part but for me, it slightly pissed me off. I guess some of the people who have also seen the movie will agree with me.
I would like to give the movie a rating of 8.5/10. Go grab a box of pop corn and watch the Transformers: Age of Extinction while it’s still one of the “talk of the town”. I’m sure you will definitely get your money’s worth.
