Have you already seen the viral video of this “street kid math wizard”? On the said video, a child was given different perfect square numbers in random and he gave its square roots. The video spread like plague and infiltrated different social media sites.
And we must take note that this kid amazingly answers in detail each and every number that was thrown to him with relative ease.
Have you ever wondered why he always say positive/ negative (+/-) before his answers? It’s because of the fact that when two negative numbers get multiplied with each other will produce a positive answer or number.
Extracting the square roots of a perfect square number is usually learned during our 5th or 6th grade. But solving large perfect square numbers mentally? Any average high school student might have headaches dealing with this kind of task. That’s why people got extremely amazed when they saw the kid’s brilliance.
His skill made quite a loud buzz and was even heard by different local TV networks. But the ABS-CBN team became the first one to show its interest towards the young math wizard. More Surprisingly, the TV network’s news team found out that the kid wasn’t alone as they have discovered a “gang” of street kid math wizards to the delight of the famous TV news’ viewers.
This gang of math wizards use their skill for them to earn a little amount of money to get throught the day. They answer math problems in exchange of money.
The other two young math wizards are named RG and Joel. Both are eleven years old and are enrolled in a public school but because they often come short of having their daily school allowance, they often end up strolling in busy streets and collect different kind of scraps to be sold to a junk shop. It’s crazy because I also think that talents such as theirs are supposed to be nurtured and developed inside a private school or institutions specially built for children gifted with mathematical abilities.
Look at how these kids wonderfully utilize the special gift that was given to them by our Creator. Who can ever resist getting amused by these young kids?
