Martina Aileen de las Alas, also known by her screen name Ai-Ai has been in the movie industry since the 1980’s. The Philippine Queen of Comedy started her career as movie extras, but her big break came upon the release of Ang Tanging Ina under Star Cinema. The movie was a huge hit that it eventually set off 2 sequels “Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat” and “Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last na ‘To!)”.
The Comedy Concert Queen’s life has been an open book to both fans and non-fans. She had a son named Sancho from her previous relationship before actor Miguel Vera came. De las Alas and Vera eventually got married in 1989 and had two children named Sean Niccolo and Sophia. Their marriage lasted until 1996. Despite the separation, the two became best of friends up to this day.
Since then, Ai-Ai had been juggling her time between her career and family.
In 2013, years after her failed marriage, the nation was shocked upon the announcement of her wedding with 28-year-old American businessman Jed Salang. Their 20-year age gap was not the issue why the relationship lasted for only a month but because Salang was abusing de las Alas physically. The separation was confirmed on May 19, 2013.
Today, news are spreading of the Ai-Ai’s new-found love. Gerald Sibayan, a former star player of De La Salle University’s badminton team. The 20-year-old student of Sports Management under the same university has plans of taking up another a training course in airline pilot two years after he graduates.
Ai-Ai is currently the acting manager of DLSU’s badminton team. The same school where Sancho, his eldest son is studying.
When asked by PEP through Facebook chat if he’s been in a relationship with Delas Alas, Sibayan briefly replies with “Opo. God bless you.”
