Apple has finally joined the bandwagon of phablets or tablet-like gadgets with phone capabilities, with its announcement of its largest iPhone ever: the iPhone 6 Plus. This feature-packed new addition is the larger, definitely better version of its fraternal twin, the iPhone 6 which was also released during Apple’s September 9 press event.
Apple fans know the actual items won’t be available until around a week later but there have been reports that many are already beginning to camp outside iStores in anticipation of the market release of these latest gadgets.
So far, local prices in the Philippine market are yet to be released but on a two-year contract in the US, the iPhone 6 costs at least $199 while the iPhone 6 Plus starts at $299 – as a comparison, the iPhone 5s costs $99. If you don’t mind not having the latest gadgets, you’re in luck because the company plans to offer the iPhone 5c for free for 2-year contracts (in the US, not yet sure in the Philippines).
iPhone 6
Remember back in the old days when the smaller the phone, the better it was? Well, times have changed – it’s quite the opposite now. The bigger, the better!
Even the ‘regular’ iPhone 6 is already larger than previous versions, featuring a 4.7-inch display. It also offers a 128-GB version, 50% better graphics, and 25% faster processing power – all packed into a model that might be larger but has a thinner design (only 6.9mm).
Although it sticks with the 8MP camera of its predecessor, the one used on the iPhone 6 is actually much better, thanks to better noise reduction, true tone flash, f/2.2 aperture, and ability to capture photos in a wide angle.
The front camera is perfect for FaceTime and selfies, now offering HD quality photos! This could be one of the main reasons why Apple fans are ditching the older models.
iPhone 6 Plus
It’s the first time Apple uses the term ‘plus’ in its product line; thus, it might sound a bit odd to the ear (kind of reminds me of Nokia X Plus or O+). Still, Apple’s version is not to be taken lightly.
Within the iPhone series, the iPhone 6 Plus is the largest and, definitely, the best so far. It features a 5.5-inch display and has almost identical features with its ‘twin’, the iPhone 6.
iWatch
Technically, it is called the Apple Watch but don’t you think ‘iWatch’ sounds better and more in line with Apple’s other products? Anyway, the name is beside the point. This smart watch offers great options for users on the go – and is quite stylish, too.
This smart watch comes with several great features, allowing the user to view updates on its face; thus, you no longer have to constantly check your phone or iPad for updates – quite perfect when you are in crowded areas and wouldn’t like to put your larger gadgets on display (or when you’re at work and the use of mobile phones are banned *wink*).
You’ll also love the fitness apps that come with the Apple Watch. The watch comes in several designs, each available in two sizes. What’s more, the bands are interchangeable so you get to use a different design, depending on your mood or outfit.

If you wish to get your hands on this awesome gadget, you’d have to wait for at least a couple more months, though, because it will only be released in the first quarter of 2015.
So, now that the bigger, better Apples have been released and almost ready for the picking, are you going to buy one?
