National University Bulldogs Pep Squad fashioned out a near-flawless routine for its second straight UAAP Cheerdance crown in front of 22,000 people at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
The National University Bulldogs Pep Squad finished with a score of 677.5 points on strength of their clean executions and jaw-dropping throws to retain the prestigious title. Similar to their Disney-inspired routine that bagged the crown in 2013, NU was majestic with their American Indian-inspired performance, executing flawless tosses and pyramids. They also displayed a crisp floor routine, wowing the crowd with their tumbling and choreography.
The UP Pep Squad ended up as first runner-up with 658 pointswith a crowd-pleasing performance. Themed “Pantay-Pantay,” the routine featured rainbow colors of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) pride flag.
The UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe returned to their winning ways, finishing second runner-up with 625 points with a Chinese dynasty theme for their first podium finish in the highly anticipated contest since 2010.
Proving its win in last year’s competition was no fluke, NU also took home a P340,000 check while UP and UST got P200,000 and P140,000, respectively.
Meanwhile, Far Eastern Univeristy won the group stunts competition, while UST placed second, and NU third.
