Kyrgyzstan – A team of surgeons, led by Dr. Bahadir Bebezov, recently removed a gigantic 9-pound hairball from a teenager’s stomach.
Based on Huffington Post’s report, Ayperi Alekseeva said she was having bad stomach pains. Gradually, she started losing weight. According to her parents, she couldn’t eat anything, not even drink water. That’s when they brought her in to have their daughter checked.
X-rays revealed a huge amount of hair in her digestive system that the doctors said the only option would be to surgically remove it. “Nothing else would solve the problem,” Dr. Bebezov said. “In fact, her stomach was so badly swollen from hair and bits of wool from the carpet that it literally just oozed out as soon as the wall of the stomach was cut.”
The 18-year-old girl had to be transported to a hospital in the capital city of Bishkek for treatment.
It was found out that the hairball was formed because Alekseeva had a bad habit of chewing the tips of her hair and picking up hair from the carpet and eating it. (That’s nasty!)
Today, the patient is recovering from the surgery. She promised the doctors that her hair-eating-days are over.
Way too nasty!
