A suspect of a $250,000 heist made it effortless for the police to do their jobs in finding him–by forgetting to flush the toilet.
Through the DNA he left on the toilet, Ramon Herrera’s name was linked to a jewelry heist that happened last month [September] at a house in Albuquerque. KOAT-TV reports the suspect relieved himself in the bathroom and forgot to flush while taking the precious jewelry at the time the owners were on vacation. Aside from that, he left traces of his DNA on a Coke can that he took from the fridge and left inside the crime scene.
Police immediately arrested the 33-year-old suspect after discovering that the DNA from the toilet and the soda can matched him.
Herrera was charged with residential burglary and larceny over $20,000. He now serves time into Bernalillo County Jail.
