With over 2 million fans in her official Facebook account and 900,000 followers on Twitter, Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago proves to be the darling of the social media.
The “Dragon Lady of Asia” who earlier expressed her plans to run for Presidency in 2016 seems to be enjoying interacting with her followers on Facebook and Twitter by answering their questions.
Just recently, Santiago gave witty answers to three questions posted by her fans on Twitter.
One of the questions caught our attention because the user was seeking for a love advice from Santiago.
User Atheena Mae (@NotTheGoddess) asked:
“Hello ma’am. Paano po mag-move on? Mahal ko siya pero hindi niya ako mahal. Payo naman po.”
To which Santiago replied: “Enlarge your circle of friends. The more friends you meet, the more likely you will find someone who will take the place of the unresponsive person.”
We simply can’t get enough of the feisty senator’s quotable quotes so we’ve rounded up five of her famous lines about love, dating and relationships:
1. On Marriage
“It is very important that you should choose the person you will marry and stay with that person. There are many people now who believe in serial love, loving one person after another. I don’t think that is good for our mental health. I think we should get it over with. Love is like measles, you know. You only get it once in your lifetime and you are immune forever. I am very happy to say that is what happened to me. I am completely immune to any temptation. All men who have passed my life after I got married might as well have been sticks of furniture.”
2. On Men
“Because men are a distraction. I don’t need them in my life. Like I didn’t need a man to support me because my father had taught me martial arts, I could handle a gun, I could drive myself. We were always taught to be independent and I did not want the idea of tailoring my personality to suit somebody else. I taught that would be an infinite amount of trouble. So I said, well, I can be as friendly as I am. I will treat everybody as a brother but I will never marry anybody.”
3. On Valentine’s day
“Alam n’yo ba ang iba pang tawag sa Valentine’s day? Para sa malungkot na single, ang tawag dito ay Single’s Awareness Day. Para sa mga masaya na single, ang tawag dito ay Single’s Independence Day. Pero sa mga walang pakialam, ang tawag dito ay Thursday.”
4. On relationships
Did you know that an earthworm has five hearts, whereas an octopus has two hearts? Kaya kung may kilala ka na nagmamahal ng higit sa dalawa, tanungin mo kung anong klaseng hayop sila.
5. On unrequited love
“Ang LOVE parang bayad sa dyip. Minsan lang nasusuklian.”
