Five surgeries were required to remove over 10 liters of fluid from the head of Roona Begum, 2, who previously looked like an alien because of an extreme case of hydrocephalus.
James Bang Files shared an updated photo of Roona, this time with a much better look. Gone was the alien-like large head. Although her head still looked much larger than what normal babies have, the new appearance is certainly a huge improvement from her previous head.
Nothing is Impossible
Yes, it might be cliché but there really is nothing impossible for people who have strong faith. Roona’s parents brought her to the hospital, even when they had very little money. All they wanted was for her to survive because her pitiable condition caused problems with her sight and communication skills.
It was also hard for her to move because her head was too heavy for her neck to lift. At the peak of her condition, her head was 3 times the size of a normal head of children her age.
Angels Sent from Heaven
Understanding that the family could not afford operations to bring Roona’s head to normal, Norwegian students Nathalie Krantz and Jonas Borchgrevink reportedly went out their way to create a donation site to raise money for Roona.
The appeal of these two angels also knocked on the hearts of many people. Soon after, there was enough money for the surgeries.
Although Roona looks much better now, more surgeries will be needed to reconstruct her head. Still, isn’t it wonderful how great an improvement her head now looks, compared with her appearance before?
