December is one of the busiest months for weddings. According to NSO, in 2010, most number of marriages happen this month. Of course, preparation for weddings should be fun, and stress-free. With all the anxiety a bride goes through, dressing up her entourage and finding the best, most beautiful gown should be the least of her problems. But as everybody says, no wedding is perfect! Today’s story is one that is absolutely far from perfect! This is not just a wedding gown boo-boo, but a wedding entourage couture disaster! Sometimes, when we save too much money, we cannot save ourselves from a Bridal Horror Story!
Annielyn Mangarin, a call center agent and freelance photographer, wrote in her blog on December 8, about her wedding couture disaster experience. What she thought would just be a stress-free and money-saving strategy turned out to be a stressful preparation of her entourage’s couture.
Everybody in the country knows about Divisoria, and since she wanted to save some money for her December wedding, she trusted a friend’s referral and opted to go to Fiesta Mall to find a wedding entourage supplier. They went to a store named Nezzar Boutique which their referral mentioned, and the owner’s “niece” accommodated them. That “niece” (Jelly Garcia Solas) of their referral offered Annielyn a good price of P 13,000 for the entire couture and her bridal gown, and since Jelly assured them that it would be the same team that will make the entourage’s couture, Annielyn took the deal and made a downpayment of P 4,000. That was in July.
And that was the beginning of a series of unfortunate events for Annielyn:
Disaster Number One: First Un-fitting! Annielyn and her entourage had their first fitting in August, started three hours late!
Disaster Number Two: More Alibis! Come November, Jelly told Annielyn that she lost her bag with their measurements, which Annielyn tolerated. She asked her entourage to have their measurements again!
The Ultimate Disaster: The Mother’s Gown and The Bridal Gown from… ??? The gowns were totally different from the designs they wanted!
And you would think the series of unfortunate events wouldn’t end! For the second fitting, Jelly was late for four hours; she never brought the mens’ pants during the three scheduled fittings, which in the end, were just bought; all the clothes were ill-fitting; the neckties were horrible, with just cardboard on them; and worst of all, Jelly disappeared and blocked Annielyn on facebook after she promised to lend their boutique’s mannequin for the wedding photoshoot, which of course, she wasn’t able to.
And that’s how stressful it was for her, specially that time is running out and the wedding is this December!
Annielyn’s advice to future brides: Get a trusted supplier and don’t try to save too much for it will not be worth the stress!
As for her wedding this week and the other weddings this month, let’s just wish them a stress-free one! Do you have a wedding horror story? Leave a comment.
