Many anti-fare hike calls were assailed in previous months and it seems that the government is waiting for the appropriate time to increase the fare.
As the new year is fast approaching, new Light Rail Transit-Metro Rail Transit fare hike will be imposed on January 4, 2015. Are passengers ready?
The Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) announced Saturday that the new base fare would be P11 and an additional P1 per kilometer. Fare matrices are as follows:
“It’s a tough decision, but it had to be made. It’s been several years since an increase was proposed. We delayed its implementation one last time until after the Christmas season. While 2015 will see increased fares, it will also see marked improvements in our LRT and MRT services,” said DOTC Secretary Jun Abaya.
Mixed opinions were noted by some netizens. Katrina would like that the increase of fare hike would signal the improvement of train’s service and facilities.
Another netizen would like MRT/LRT to operate 24 hours to cater passengers working in night shift.
Recently, LRT/MRT defective and breakdown operations were reported, including train derailed and poor maintainance.
A fare hike because of all thev lack of bad management so the people of Manila need to pay the price. So they raise the prices so the secret owners get more money in their pockets?
before raising any fares, it would be probable for the people to see any improvements… kinukupit lang eh! tapos wala kaming makitang bagong features kundi price hike.. malakas makapang loko ng pilipino.. parang teknolohiya yan, walang bago walang dagdag.
This new price hike really sucks! You know what? Nakakahiya mga Pilipino dahil ang iniisip ng mga nasa posisyon ay kung paano makakakupit sa mga ordinaryong mamamayan pero hindi naman nila pinagbubuti ang serbisyo! I have seen how many times, the elevator in Guadalupe MRT station, parating defective! And poor maintenance too, minsan madedelay ang trip dahil may sira? So walang choice ang mga tao..
Please those who want to implement this, better service to the people leads to progress. You guys should willingly give real service, not be allies of corruption. Kaya di tayo umaasenso! Nakakahiya sa mga foreigners! Ang Pilipinas raw ay very corrupt kaya walang usad!
