“The customer is always right” is a concept which emphasizes prioritizing and putting the customer first above everything. This concept which started in the late 19th century is associated with Marshall Field’s Department Store in Chicago, Illinois. “Give the lady what she wants”, was one of the slogans Field would use in his store.
Fast forward to this decade, the concept is still used by many businesses. The phrase even became the title of a 2006 Korean movie which is about a man who owns a barbershop.
However, just this week, a video was uploaded showing customers beating up a saleslady in a mall in Manila. The video, uploaded by Matteo Menesis showed three transgenders ganging up on a saleslady, pulling her hair and beating her with a stick.
What started out as an argument between one of the customers and a saleslady turned into an ugly, violent confrontation.
What went wrong?
Apparently, the lady they beat up was not the one they were complaining about. At the beginning of the video, the transgenders can be seen confronting a saleslady. They didn’t like what the saleslady did. After a few minutes, another saleslady interrupted the discussion, suggesting that the customers to just file a complaint at the mall’s administration office. Taken aback by how the saleslady interrupted their discussion, one of the transgenders threatened to hurt the saleslady. The saleslady in turn, replied carelessly, telling the customer to do whatever she pleases. She was then attacked by that customer who hit her head on the display case and pulled her hair. Meanwhile, the transgender’s companions joined in and hit her with a stick many times. The violent confrontation ended only when the other salesladies pushed the group out of the store as they continued their verbal tirade.
The Customer is Always Right, but how about the saleslady’s rights?
Whatever offended the transgenders that made them attack the previous saleslady verbally was not shown in the video. Whoever was right in that situation, we may never know. However, the question now is, was it right that the other saleslady insinuated herself in their argument? Of course, it is never right to physically attack someone, but how should have the other saleslady reacted? Everybody knows about “The customer is always right”, how about the salesperson’s rights?

Research for this before blogging. You seemed to be bias. The transgender ls were not customers. They were also sellers in that particular mall. These saleslady was confronted because they were rude. May kasamahan kasi tong mga trans na to na may kapansanan, which is laging nilalait nitong mga sales lady na to. When they reached their limit yun na.
Standing in front of a store or inside it doesn’t make u a customer!Don’t make a headline / title about customer service regarding ds video .B/c clearly it shows tht ds 3 beki’s is starting a fight, verbally and physically assaulted a saleslady whose trying to suggest to channel their concerns to d proper authorities !
It doesn’t matter if those transgenders were costumers or not. The real things is that, it should have not went to physically attacking the saleslady. After all they are still men, lalaki pa din sila, strong like men. Beating those ladies was not right at any point. Those Gays should have listen on what the other saleslady is saying to channel their problem to the administration of the mall.
hindi pa rin tamang manakit ng tao kahit ano pa yan nagawang kasalanan kung may nagawa man mali yon other party edi sana don sila sa tamang lugar nagpunta sa tamang authorities para magcomplain hindi ganyan.
kahit nagkamali ung mga saleslady, the transgens shouldn’t have attacked the girl coz in the first place they should have had it investigated or reported it to the authority…3 against 1 is very bias…
the mall should take action for this incedent…
Those 3 transgender should not hurt the saleslady coz they are men and strong…why not go to the ADMIN and complain.
wala kasi silang training as a sales lady on how a handle a customer complain’ although hindi sa lahat ng bagay customers is always right’ wag mo naman ipakita o iparamdam na nagkamali si customer kasi kung laging ganyan walang mangyayari sa store nila! tamang mali din yung mga transgender pero kung nagawa ng maayos ng mga sales lady yung pagiging customer service na trabaho nila hindi na siguro aabot don..
Your statements are very redundant you’re just accusing those 3 transgender.. walang moda naman yang mga sales lady na yan
I am not surprised. These things happen talaga like… Everywhere… Pero sa company premises… I think the store manager should take this into legal action… Baka magka abangan pa yan sa labas. -worried lang-
bias talaga ang pangyayari kasi lahat nag banggan pwedeinng pag usapan wag physicalan..
