Due to apparent massive drug overdose, Floyd Mayweather Jr. reportedly died at Cedars Sinai, a medical center in Los Angeles, California. No date was given the report alleged that the boxer died “this afternoon”.
There is a good reason why no dates were given: the article was a hoax!
It was an interesting story albeit a less than truthful one.
According to the article posted on despiertatico.com, a member of the cleaning team found the undefeated American champion lying on one of the sofas in his home, unmoving and apparently suffering an overdose. He had large amounts of liquor and cocaine on his body, leading to immediate conclusions that the potent cocktail of drugs and liquor proved too much for the 37-year-old boxer.
The staff member immediately called the police. Emergency services brought Floyd to the emergency room at Cedars Sinai but he was later pronounced dead. This was allegedly confirmed by the chief in charge of the hospital, doctor Leonard Walker.
The report also mentioned that hundreds of fans visited the hospital to mourn the boxer.
Some Floyd detractors were quick to comment about the article being close to the truth or that the boxer was merely finding another way to escape a fight with Manny Pacquiao by faking his death.
Of course, a social media addict like Floyd would have a hard time hiding if he is behind the news of the fake death because the boxer is well known for bragging about his wealth, his boxing career on social media. It would be hard for him to do that if he is ‘dead’, right?
My personal take on this is that this so-called satirical news sites should really stop making hoax articles like this. Not only can these cause confusion to many people, these can also hurt those people involved in the story. Who wants to read a story of his own death, anyway?
omg..?
is it really true??
oh ?? really ?
WTF ! wew ?!
