Game Show Presenter Dies After Rejecting Chemotherapy So Her Unborn Son can Live

The selfless act of Chinese television presenter by giving her life and saving her unborn child is a pure manifestation of unconditional love.

Qui Yuanyuan, 26, from Zhengzhou, Henan, who refused to undergo anti-cancer treatment so her unborn son won’t be harmed and lived, has died.

“After getting married, becoming a mother was her biggest wish,” She chose to save our child; she understood that not everything in life can be perfect. And she said she had never regretted her decision,” Qiu’s husband, Zhang Qixuan told the Zhengzhou Evening News.

The former chess game show host discovered that she was pregnant in March coexistent with the knowledge she had a late stage malignant tumor after the results of a physical examination was revealed, according to reports in China.

As tragic at it may seem, she then stopped her chemotherapy treatment from keeping her unborn baby out of harm allowing the cancer to spread out. Her condition get worsened when she was admitted in September.

There, she gave birth to her son, Niannian-only seven month old who weighed 3lbs upon arrival-was delivered by Caesarean section, the report added.

Qui, underwent more than 20 days of treatment but her doctors said the chances of her to survive is very low. They advised to quit the remaining procedure and use the time left to be with her son.

She died at her home on Wednesday evening- December 10, after her family held a 100th day celebraton of her son’s birth.

According to South China Morning Post, Qui’s husband, who is a jounalist and her co-employee at the same TV station, was away from home when she died, and was not able to see her when she breathed her last.

Her husband said, “Yuanyuan has passed away; the only thing I can do now is to take care our child and her family. I hope everyone can silently bless her and our child, and smile at life – just as Yuanyuan did.”
