The much-awaited fight of the century, the Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight could be happening very soon – on May 2, 2015, according to Floyd Mayweather.
After keeping mum about the alleged negotiations said to be being undertaken by the big bosses of Showtime’s parent company, Mayweather finally admitted that something is being done so the superfight could happen.
“We are ready. Let’s make it happen. May 2. Mayweather versus Manny Pacquiao. Let’s do it!” Mayweather said in an interview on Friday with Showtime Boxing commentator Steve Farhood.
“He’s desperate. I wanted that fight a long time ago. I’m just waiting on them,” he declared. He also added that it was Pacquiao’s camp who had been dallying with the negotiations, making it harder for their bout to happen.
He must have forgotten how he made crazy demands (such as Olympic-style blood testing) for Pacquiao to submit to which the latter refused. However, Pacquiao later declared he is willing to do whatever Mayweather demands just so they can give the fans the fight they have always wanted – but the undefeated American boxer issued conflicting statements, including a declaration that Pacquiao is not yet worthy to fight him because the latter still has issues with Juan Manuel Marquez.
In the Showtime Boxing interview, Mayweather defended his previous demands, saying all he wanted was a fair fight but Pacquiao refused his terms.
Pacquiao’s Answer to the Challenge
For months, even years, Pacquiao’s camp has been trying hard to score a fight with Mayweather. Now that the American boxer finally set a fight date, what’s the Pacman going to do?
Well, according to Pacquiao, he will never believe Mayweather’s statement unless the undefeated champion signs the deal.
He dared the American champion to sign the fight deal, not just talk about it, ““Gawin niya, hindi puro salita!”
