A sick maid named Sarrah Grace Suriaga posted a pitiful video on her personal Facebook page, begging the authorities to help her escape from her employers-turned-captors who refused to bring her to the hospital even after she begged them to, reports Trending News Portal.
In a report on Arab News, it was detailed how Suriaga apparently got sick. After days of being sick and feeling weak, she asked her employers to bring her to the hospital but they refused to do so.
They gave her water and food, but did not replenish the food supply so that she was eating the same set meal for 2 days even when it was already stale. For a sick person, this could cause more problems, such as food poisoning but she was forced to eat the food because she was too hungry.
She later begged for them to send her back home if they won’t bring her to a hospital. The employer took her contract, saying this needs to be photocopied first. However, the contract was not returned and she was not sent home.
The post quickly went viral. What is alarming is that, as of press time, the post on Suriaga’s page is not available anymore. There could be a number of reasons for the removal of the post – alarming because Saudi is known for censoring information, pictures, videos, etc. It is possible that the authorities found out about the video and has removed it. If this is the case, then the poor OFW could be in deeper trouble.
