A still unidentified passenger at Bacolod Silay Airport earned the anger of netizens after a video has gone viral of him calmly walking away and not helping the old lady who tripped over his bags.
In the video shared by YouTube user Titas de Bacolod, passengers could be seen retrieving their bags from the conveyor belt after these passed through the x-ray machine at the airport. Other passengers had gone before the old lady without hitch.
The lady was still waiting for her bags when the man jumped the queue to remove his bags first from the conveyor belt. He then placed this bags on the left side of the woman – which was crazy considering how he could have placed those bags right by his side instead of hers!
Yes, he did not mean to trip the old lady but placing those bags beside her was asking for trouble. The old lady was too busy with her own luggage to notice the bags the man placed by her side.
So, when she began walking away from the x-ray machine, she tripped over the man’s bag. Other passengers and some airport staff were quick to help the old lady while the man looked on, unconcerned by the commotion he unwittingly caused.
We could see in the video how he moved to pick up his stuff from the floor, seemingly to move these out of the way else other passengers might trip on these, too. However, instead of stopping to help the old lady who tripped over his bag, the man calmly walked away from the scene without bothering to check whether the woman was alright and certainly not asking forgiveness for unknowingly tripping her!
Yes, the tripping incident was not intentional but the man’s actions afterwards angered netizens who berated him for being insensitive and ill-mannered. Perhaps he was in a hurry to catch his flight but so was the old lady who tripped on his bags because he placed them on her path! The least he could have done was ask forgiveness for his actions and check whether she was alright before he continues to his plane. Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.
We hope the lady recovered quickly from the incident and was able to catch her flight. As for the man, we hope he would come out and issue a public apology.
