Thanks to the overwhelming support of Filipino fans on social media, the country’s bet for the 2014 Miss Universe Pageant is being eyed as the frontrunner of the beauty contest.
According to Venture Capital Post, the social media noise for the North Cotabato-raised beauty may not guarantee the crown but it reportedly has a huge effect on sponsors.
In addition to the the special buzz Pinoy fans are making for Mary Jean Lastimosa, the Miss Universe 2014 pageant trailer also featured the Philippine flag and Filipina runners-up Janine Tugonon and Ariella Arida making many people speculate that Lastimosa indeed has the edge over the 87 other contestants all over the world.

Furthermore, champion boxer Manny Pacquiao is among the judges of the Miss Universe 2014 coronation night.
Other Miss Universe Frontrunners
Aside from Lastimosa, Asian candidates Elvira Devinamira from Indonesia and Pimbongkod Chankaew from Thailand also are also included in this year’s list of frontrunners. Devinamira was labeled as “vibrant and confident woman”, while Chankaew’s strong social media presence is an advantage for her.
Meanwhile, other candidates like Paulina Vega from Columbia, Desiré Ferrer Cordero from Spain, Nia Sanchez from USA, Andjelka Tomasevic from Serbia, and Yulia Alipova from Russia are among the other eyed candidates.
The 63rd Annual Miss Universe pageant will held this coming Sunday, January 25 at FIC Arena Doral, Miami.
