Aram Pan, a Singaporean photographer specializing in 360 degree panoramic virtual tours for hotels, real estate, and automobiles, exposed a different side of North Korea: the normal one.
Earlier, we featured a story about the controversial photos of renowned travel photographer Eric Lafforgue who was banned from North Korea after his photographs surfaced online.
This time, Pan, who has long been interested to see what’s life like inside the rogue country decided to take in 2013.
In his interview with Mail Online, he said: “I have been curious about North Korea for many years. The average person has probably seen more photos about outer space than of North Korea. It’s one of those great mysteries that I wanted to discover for myself and I figured it might just be possible.”
Instead of finding “really, really sad people” as North Koreans are portrayed in media, Pan was shocked to see North Koreans enjoying ice cream in the sunshine, a woman getting her hair dyed in a salon, as well as health looking citizens playing beach volleyball.
“’The things I’ve seen and photographed tell me that the situation isn’t as bad as I thought,” Pan said.
Check out if Pan’s photos will change your mind about North Korea. You can view some of his photos in his website.
