If you want to try the best-tasting catfish in the country, then Pantatan Restaurant (note: “pantat” is actually the local name for catfish) inside Fortune Field Resort is the place you’re looking for. In fact, it is one of the favourite stops of many travellers in Banga, South Cotabato.
Fortunately, we had the chance to eat and stay in this resort with magnificent view during the SoCCSKSarGen Experience Tour 2014 organised by GenSan bloggers.
As expected, the restaurant serves all sorts of catfish or pantat dishes you can think of such as adoring pantat, fried pantat, and grilled pantat. We tried some of the restaurant’s best sellers but I particularly favoured fried pantat and chicharon na tilapia. My verdict for these dishes: You shouldn’t leave South Cotabato without trying them.
You can also purchase fresh hito and cook it yourself.
Fortune Field Restaurant and Resort was an excellent choice for accommodation since the resort provides a very spacious room and a nice bathroom. It’s pretty much a great deal for only P750 a night considering the air-conditioned room has WiFi, cable TV, and hot and cold shower. You can also enjoy the 25-meter adult pool. If you’re planning a day tour in the resort, you have the option to get a cottage for P150 or a private cottage with comfort room, grilling area, and dishwashing area for only P450.
The resort’s triangle lagoon was also a sight not to miss. I think it’s a perfect venue for prenuptial pictorials or even a weddings. Additionally, the resort has function rooms and pavilions for special events.
Good food, good accommodation, and value for money– these are the things you can expect from Fortune Field Restaurant and Resort. For these reasons, I will certainly visit this place again.
