Well, it has been confirmed, Spider-Man is joining the other Marvel Heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That’s after last year’s announcement that Andrew Garfield will no longer play Peter Parker. And this is just the beginning of a somewhat expected end for “The Amazing Spider-Man.”
Although “The Amazing Spider-Man” used to be promising, with Sony Pictures announcing it spin-offs and sequels, “The Amazing Spider-Man” will never be seen in movie theaters anymore with the collaboration of Sony Pictures and Marvel for its next appearance on the big screen.
As Entertainment Weekly says, “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” is a rare example of almost everything that could go wrong with Hollywood in the franchise era. Amazing Spider-Man was a trope factory for hand-me-down concepts.
With its “loose ends” as Uproxx Movies has mentioned, “The Amazing Spider-Man” is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode. Good thing Sony Pictures did something to at least save the web slinger. With Amy Pascal who oversaw its production a decade ago, and Kevin Fiege and his amazing team at Marvel teaming up to work on the next Spider-Man movies, Sony Pictures have made the right decision.
But how did the “Amazing Spider-Man” die? We have found 5 good (or I guess bad) reasons:
1. His skateboard
Although “The Amazing Spider-Man” was able to sell a lot of “Amazing Spider-Man skateboards”, watching Peter on the big screen skateboarding in the movie just doesn’t make any sense.
2. The attempt to give the audience that “Twilight” feel
Well, they made Peter Parker go back to high school with that scene awkwardly asking Gwen Stacy on a date. Yes, they do have chemistry but the trend for superheroes now are “muscular”.
Maybe we should just leave these types of love stories for teen flicks.

3. Incorporating old stories that make the audience feel fed up.
Quoting from Entertainment Weekly, “How many more times do we have to see Uncle Ben get killed? How many more times do we need to watch Peter hanging out with his best pal Harry Osborn, blissfully unaware that anybody named Osborn will probably go Green sooner or later?”
4. Tobey Maguire’s web-slinger stint was more notable
Although Tobey Maguire did not have that many appearances after the Spider-Man trilogy, everybody knows of him as the Spider-Man. As for Andrew Garfield, well, yes he did well, but there’s something that is missing from his portrayal.
5. “The Amazing Spider-Man” was a disappointment at the box office compared with the previous Spider-Man trilogy
For obvious reasons, this is, what we believe was the biggest reason why “The Amazing Spider-Man” needed to discontinue. According to Deadline Hollywood, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was expected to surpass its prequel, and while it did, “The Amazing Spider-Man” still was not able to surpass the box-office records for the Spider-Man trilogy.
Still not convince why “The Amazing Spider-Man” must “rest in peace”? We have found a video of everything that went wrong with “The Amazing Spider-Man.”
For the web slinger fans, let’s just wait and see how Marvel can resurrect Spider-Man.
