Airport authorities at Chiang Mai International Airport were red-faced after reports surfaced of a Chinese girl hanging her wet underwear on seats at the lounge.
Snaps of the unsightly laundry quickly spread on the web, once again putting Chinese tourists in the limelight as bad travelers who do not know proper etiquette. Of course, this is also an unfair generalization yet the concept has become “proven” in recent months due to several reports of crazy behaviors by Chinese travelers.
As for the woman who hung her underwear in the airport lounge, the airport authorities are not planning to file a case against her because the behavior does not constitute as an offense in their books. There were no rules or laws in the airport prohibiting people from hanging their laundry on the seats. So, unless this was an urgent safety concern, the authorities could not do anything about it.
The woman did not appear concerned despite the attention she was getting. She simply continued using her phone while many people gathered around her, trying to take a picture of her quirky behavior. Truly, she must have felt “at home” in the airport to attempt such action.
There were actually those who defended the woman, saying she must have just gotten out of the beach and had to air her laundry so she can have dry clothes when she gets back home. Well, that might be true yet this does not change the fact that she had hung her UNDERWEAR in one of the world’s busiest airports! Oh my!
