Jordanian fighter pilots have exacted revenge against the ISIS, following the horrific death of their comrade Lt. Muath al-Kaseasbeh who was burned alive. Reports have surfaced that at least 55 ISIS militants were killed in the numerous airstrikes Jordan began early Thursday morning.
Jordan had earlier executed two militant prisoners after the ISIS released a videotape of al-Kaseasbeh’s horrific burning but the pilot’s father, Safi al-Kasseasbeh, was not satisfied with this, saying this could never avenge his son’s death.
Outraged at the atrocity, King Abdullah vowed to fight the ISIS until they run out of bullets and fuel. He calls Kaseasbeh a martyr whose death they will surely avenge.
True to his word, the king gave the go-signal for the airstrikes.
The king of Jordan also personally visited the dead pilot’s family to offer his condolences. When the pilots returned from the airstrike, they all passed through al-Kaseasbeh’s hometown in southern Jordan. As they flew above, the king pointed out the planes to the al-Kaseasbeh family.
The pilots also made flyovers across the capital.
King Abdullah felt no qualms against launching an all-out war against ISIS, saying their response is harsh because “this terrorist organization is not only fighting us, but also fighting Islam and its pure values”.
His statement was met with cheers by his constituents, many of whom were carrying photos of him and the fallen pilot as well as Jordan’s flag. Jordan’s pilots were also eager to crush the ISIS, especially after the group burned al-Kaseasbeh alive.
Is the King Leading the Airstrikes?
Photos of the king in full combat gear went viral after it was falsely reported that he is personally leading the airstrikes against the ISIS. King Abdullah was a former special forces commander and general, so it was not surprising to the public that he would lead the airstrike aboard his own fighter jet.
The photo was later revealed as an old one and reports soon confirmed that the king planned to personally visit the pilot’s family instead of joining the airstrikes.
Filipinos who found the king’s full battle gear photos could not help but compare him and President Benigno Aquino III’s apparent lame response to the death of 44 SAF men in the hands of a local terrorist group. After all, if the battle gear photo was true, then King Abdullah is surely the fiercest, bravest head of state in the world today.
Also, Jordan is exacting vengeance by going on an all-out war against ISIS for the death of one pilot and personally went to his village to offer condolences to his family yet Aquino snubbed the arrival honors of the forty-four SAF men [though he later made up for his absence] and would not declare war against those responsible for the troops’ deaths.
