When it comes to creating futuristic inventions, Japan can definitely turn what seems to be impossible for many into reality. Case in point: Robot development.
According to a report by RachFeed, Japanese inventors will be showcasing the world’s first hotel that will be manned by robots in July this year. Built by the Japanese robotic company Korokoro, the 10 human-like robots will check in guests, carry their bags and escort them to their rooms in the Henn-na Hotel located in Nagasaki Prefecture in Japan.
Tourists need not to worry about having difficulty communicating with these robots. These robots have features that will allow them to understand several languages including Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and English.
Wondering how they look like? In the company’s website, three different versions of the robot were unveiled. All of them have subtle Japanese features and long brown hair.
Roboticist Angelica Lim told The Daily Beast that most “love hotels” in Japan don’t have human employees. Instead, these establishments use machines.
“The point is that the customers want the option of discretion and privacy from the moment they step inside.They get their room code from a machine, and pay at a machine,” Lim explained.
Aside from the robot staff, the 72-room hotel will also feature rooms with facial recognition locks. This means guests don’t need keys to open their rooms. Moreover, the room temperature will automatically adjust depending on the guest’s body heat.
So how much would it cost to stay in this extremely high-tech hotel? Prices will start at $60 per room. This rate may rise depending on the demand.
With the aim to make it the most efficient hotel in the world, Company President Hideo Sawada said they plan to have more than 90% of the hotel services to be operated by robots in the future.
