A sick boy whose leg is growing larger because of a rare disease was allegedly abandoned by his family who saw him more as a burden than as a source of joy.
His situation was first shared by a woman named Joanalyn Paguibitan Cabatbat on Facebook. According to her story, she met the boy in front of the BDO at Espanya in Manila. She immediately noticed his swollen leg.
Worried about the boy’s condition, Cabatbat asked him about his family and why he was in the streets. The young man’s reply shocked her: his family rejected him because of his condition; thus, he ran away from home.
Concerned now, Cabatbat gave him P250 for food and told him she will be back with clothes and more food. So, she hurried home and brought back a few clothes plus some grocery items.
Not really sure what to do with the child, she took photos of him which she posted on her FB account to share to the public. The post has garnered close to 11,500 shares since she posted it last November. Many people suggested she take the child to the police station or the DSWD but Cabatbat’s main goal had been to call the attention of Mel Tiangco, Gawad Kalinga, or other charitable institutions.
The post was made last November but has just recently gotten the attention of local blogs (including Trending News Portal) and news sites. Cabatbat has not made an update on the boy and it is yet unknown whether he is still hanging out at Espanya but we’re hoping the public could shed a light to this boy’s current predicament.
The story is getting viral across various social media and we’re hoping someone would be able to find this boy again and bring him to police station or DSWD.
