This Driver Refused To Help A Hit-And-Run Elderly Woman On The Road. Later Discovers “It was Mum.”

China – A man was driving down the city of Wuhu to visit his mother when he passed by an elderly woman lying on the road and badly injured. He refused to help the hit-and-run victim thinking it could be one of the modus operandi by a group who would extort money from good Samaritans.

When he arrived at his mother’s house, she was not there. With the neighbors telling him that the old lady had already left to meet him, his instinct told him to go back to the scene of the road accident. That’s where he confirmed that the woman was his mother, fatally injured. As they drive her to the hospital, it was too late. She’s already dead.

“Mr. Zhang is the victim’s son. He wells up as soon as he mentions his mother and the accident she was involved in,” his neighbor told the People’s Daily Online, adding that the son recalls setting off early in the morning to see his mother who lived in the ancestral village. “En route he drove by a hit-and-run scene.”

Express reports Zhang admitted that he chose not to stop to help the victim worried it would cause him trouble. “I saw a woman lying in the road,” he said. “When I got to my mother’s home and found that she wasn’t there I headed straight back to the traffic accident as I had a feeling it might be her. As soon as I got there I could see it was Mum.”

Meanwhile, it did not take long for the police to arrest the person responsible for the death of the hit-and-run victim.
