VIRAL: The panic-stricken girl is swimming alone when she realizes a giant creature is near her

Manatees are gentle and slow-moving creatures. Though they can grow up to more than 13 feet in length and may weigh more than 3,500 pounds, they are often shy and reclusive. They have no natural enemies, no system of defense and are completely harmless. They are found throughout Florida’s coastal waters and in its rivers, surviving on a diet that’s plant based. Manatees are protected under the federal Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972 and the Endangered Species Act of 1973, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reports on its website.

So it’s just funny how a girl spring breaker freaking out because there’s a gentle manatee doing his thing and floating leisurely through the warm Florida waters. Maybe she’s not familiar with a manatee. Either not knowing it’s a manatee, or not knowing that manatees are about as gentle and non-threatening as animals get, she has a full-fledged meltdown.

This video became viral probably because of this girl’s entertaining run in with the gentle sea cow.

She survived (of course she will) the encounter and was able to climb back onboard the boat with her friends.
