Slovakia – a servant of the church named Sister Ludovita had been doing RE classes at a local school in Kysucke Nove Mesto when she ordered Adam Celko, a young pupil to come to the front.
The 7-year-old boy, along with the whole class, was stunned when the nun jabbed a needle into his hand while stressing to him that this was how the Son of God suffered and he would experience it as well if he do not behave appropriately.
This incident angered Adam’s mom, Helena, explaining how her son went home with a wound on the back of his hand. The little boy did not hesitate to tell her what happened to which she reacted in complete shock adding that, “what on earth was she thinking? And with Easter coming I began to worry about what she would do next – crucify one of the students or hammer a nail into their hands?”
The school released their statement about the issue saying, “We strongly disapprove of this sort of teaching method. When I contacted the Sister she told me that the class had been learning about Jesus Christ and personal sin.”
According to them, the nun told the institution that the children had been invited to voluntarily experience mild pain “so they could empathise with the theme.”
Sister Ludovita also stated that she had asked the pupils to prick themselves if they wanted to but she did not forced them. “She denies stabbing the boy and says he did it himself. Either way, this is inappropriate behaviour and will not be tolerated in this school,” the school spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, Father Peter Holbicka told the Mirror that the nun in question has been removed from the school adding that he will be taking the situation with her personally.
