Radio Disney Music Awards is a yearly awards show which is operated and administered by Radio Disney which recently televised on Disney Channel. This said event is one of the most awaited awards night since it gather big names from the music industry nowadays like Nick Jonas, One Direction, Arianna Grande, Ed Sheeran and many more.
This year’s Radio Disney Music Awards (2015) gathers the coolest fresh celebrities in music and television industry to be on their red carpet last April 25 at Los Angeles, California. A lot of personalities were there to rejoice and honor the biggest names in music for kids’ and their families.
Despite the success of the event, rumors arise all over twitter saying that the RDMA judgment is biased. Directioners, one of the biggest fandom nominees, started to tweet negative reactions towards RDMA. It is after RDMA announce the list of winners and found out that One Direction, one of the most sought after boy group, failed to win all three nominations they have: They’re The One as Best Music Group (take home by Fifth Harmony), So FANtastic as Fiercest Fans (win by Fifth Harmony Fans -Harmonizers) and XOXO as Best Crush Song (swept by Sabrina Carpenters).
Directioners even trended the #RDMAFakeAward and #RDMARIGGED because they believed they had proofs that RDMA is rigged. One even tweeted a photo with the tweet volume comparison which seems to be decisive because voting took place in Twitter.
RDMA remain in silence about the matter while several fans defended that voting via twitter is just another way fans could vote for their favorite group. So even if Directioners out-tweeted several fandoms, it doesn’t mean that they already win the battle.
Hence, some Directioners stay positive towards the issue around the web and feel motivated to win it next year. And since they received another nomination from other music awards competition, One Direction fans already focused to it and tend to accept the matter.
