Desert Oasis High School, Las Vegas – The Prom is such a major event in a High Schooler’s life. Almost every Junior and Senior student looks forward to getting asked to go to the prom. And being someone who has always participated in organizing school dances, Andrew Martinez is no exception: he has always wanted to go to one.
“I always wanted a date“, Martinez, who is a member of the Student Council told a NewNowNext reporter. But being ‘gay’, Martinez felt that no one would ask him out, especially to the prom. “And knowing I’m too busy for guys, no gay guy would ask me to a dance.”
But just when he least expected it, something very heartwarming happened. Andrew Martinez got asked to the prom, and by a straight guy.
Jacob Lescenski, Andrew’s best friend, publicly proposed to his BFF to be his date to the prom. With the help of a huge banner and a couple of friends to hold it, Jacob said:
“You’re hella gay, I’m hella str8, but you’re like my brother, so be my d8?”
Lescenski said that after a planned date failed, he decided to go to the prom by himself. But after he saw the tweet of his best friend, expressing his desire to go to the prom and how he hoped someone would ask him out, Lescenski thought it will be perfect to go out with him to the prom as “he is an amazing guy and deserved a date“.
Below is the photo that Martinez posted, proud and happy, on Twitter:
Positive reactions about the post soon flooded Twitter:

“Those LGBTQ people who remember a much harsher high school can understand how heartwarming this promposal is to see. We can only hope their prom night will be as memorable.”
