Father confesses to killing his family in a disturbing Facebook post

“Now my family is pain free and in heaven.”

These are the words that shocked a community in British Columbia after a man confessed into killing his own daughter, wife, and sister on Facebook.

Hours after the confession was posted on Facebook, homicide investigators recovered several burned bodies which they believe to be members of the same family in two separate residences on Thursday. Although the investigators did not disclose the identities nor the number of victims, they claimed that the suspect is dead indicating an apparent suicide.

In the Facebook post, Randy Janzen, the alleged killer,  revealed that he took his daughter Emily’s life to relieve her of migraine and depression she had painfully endured since elementary school.

He also shot his wife, Laurel, because “a mother should never have [to] hear the news her baby has died.”

His sister Shelly also suffered the same fate as Randy’s other family members. According to Randy’s Facebook post, he killed his sister because he did not want her to live with shame.

After discovering Randy’s post, the investigators immediately went to his residence and surrounded it. Four hours after their arrival, the home caught fire and was immediately engulfed in flames.

It was not confirmed whether Randy was inside the house when it burned down overnight.

Ending Daughter’s Suffering

Over the last two years, Emily, a young student of the University of British Columbia, had to give up schooling for being in almost constant pain from headaches and migraines. Her condition seemingly put an end to her singing career as well as her social life.

In her Twitter account, Emily shared her emotional rollercoaster of pain, desperation, frustration as well as gratitude and optimism towards her condition. Meanwhile, her mother Laurel’s Twitter account also detailed their family’s struggle to cope with Emily’s sufferings.

Randy’s childhood friend Shane Dwight, whom he hadn’t had any contact for the last 10 years, described the suspect as a “kind and loving family man”.

Dwight claimed he wasn’t aware if Randy suffered from mental illness or drug problems.

“He was a hardworking man, someone who loved his family more than anything,” Dwight said about Randy.

“I know he loved his daughter more than anything and was so proud of her,” he added.
