Millions of spiders fell from the sky in Australia, a phenomenon which is commonly known as the “spider rain” or what they called it as ” Angel rain” because of its hair-like silky thread that spiders leave behind during their migration. Residents were startled and alarmed at the same time that it might destroy their crops in the town of Goulburn in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales, Australia. Although it is unusual to any other places but this “Angel Rain” or Spider Rain” phenomenon have been studied and tracked down since 2001 by Keith Basterfield.
Basterfield has been researching migrant spiders for 10 years. He said between May to August, young spiders began to “fly” in the sky due to weather change, “ballooning” by releasing their silk-like thread.

The phenomenon has already occurred several times, usually on clear and bright days. Should you happen to see it, Basterfield would love to know the details. You can email him at [email protected] .
