At last, the nail-biting can cease. The Fight of the Centuries’ victor was declared via unanimous decision. – Floyd Mayweather, Jr (hence, with the moniker “Money”) has brought home the bacon, the multi-million belt that makes him 118 million dollar richer. Whew! Ours, on the other hand, is likewise become wealthier, but in poignant and defeat.
The smiley face that was painted upon his countenance yesterday during the weighing-off prior to the event was wiped-off, yet his faith to god has never wavered. Judging from the glow he exudes, his audience all thought he’s going to win the match against his strongest boxing foe in the history. But then again, he knew he gave his all for his country, as always. And his myriad of fans can attest into that.
“I thought I won the fight …He is always running and not doing anything”… – The People’s Champ
Manny Vs. Money
There’s no thunderous roar or wild clamor seen or heard in the cable screen. Majority were flabbergasted as to why, their bet Manny did not emerge as the victor. Why and What transpired? Countless questions were raised, answers be given in due time.
Our Hero seemed to have tried, tested and tasted everything. Winning. Losses. Winning and, alas! back to loses again. Now at 36, he’s in the prime of his life and of career. And he has the mortal combat AKA Boxing supporters of all kinds and motive to thank for. Forget not the traditional politicians, mentors and well-paid bodyguards who sticks with him like a glue, a bro. Yet, despite the frenetic call for his semi-early retirement, farewell to the expensive sport that made him as one of the planet’s richest and the greatest athlete still quite far in his vocabulary, – especially after failing to earn the title today.
The best is yet to come
Combat Promoter Bob Arum and Maverick Coach, the husky-voiced Don Freddy Roach who, some years ago are both itching to schedule the Fighting Congressman for this great fight with the proud “Money”, errr… Floyd – a next fight, in this light is looming – intended to outshine his last.
Today’s game is over! – “Money” is the Champ, not Manny. But in the hearts of his ever-devoted fans, Filipinos or non, the People’s champ will always be the no. 1.
