One guy from Italy named Franco Rabuffi got a surprise call from the Pontiff and then hung up on him thinking it was just a prank call. And he not only did this once, but twice.
Pope Francis is known to randomly call strangers to hear about their problems or as a reply to their letters. That Monday, the Pontiff called Rabuffi to give him comfort because he was sick. The third time the Pontiff called, Rabuffi realized it was really Pope Francis who’s on the other line and knowing the witty side of the Pope, Rabuffi told the Vatican newspaper, l’Osservatore Romano, “I was speechless but Francis came to my rescue, saying that what had happened was funny“.
Rabuffi went to the Vatican with his wife, on Wednesday, and personally apologized to the Pope for what happened.
Pope Francis is really an admirable man. Imagine having to try calling again after being hung up two times upon saying you are the Pope? I bet he sincerely thought it was funny! Hands-up to your humility.
