In one of the most-watched segments of It’s Showtime, adVice Ganda, actor/comedian Vice Ganda shocked everyone when he removed his makeup and wig, appearing for the first time on TV without any cosmetic enhancements.
It all began when a 16-year-old audience member named Pamela Reyes asked Vice, who was in his Madam Bertud persona, for help since she was being bullied for being “ugly.”
Vice asked someone on the staff to wet wipes and started removing the makeup from his face.
“Pakikitaan kita kung pa’no maging mapagmalaki yung sarili.
(I will show you how to be proud of yourself. Don’t be afraid, accept without fear the judgement of other people. I’ll show you and you can bring this [encouragement] with you everyday.)

Vice also removed his colored contact lenses, false eyelashes, and hair extensions.
(My skin is smooth, right? But my makeup is thick.)
“Sa TV ang ganda ng mata ko ‘di ba? Kasi nakapilikmata ako,” the 39-year old host said while removing the falsies.
(My eyes look nice on TV, right? Because I’m wearing false eyelashes.”)
Kasi naka-contact lens ako,” he said and threw out the circle lens.
(If you watch my eyes, they are sharp and noticeable and they [the iris] are really round and big. Because I wear contact lenses.)
He removed his wig and encouraged everyone to take a picture of him, letting the entire world see the real him.
Para sa akin, maganda ako,” he said.
(This is me. This is Vice Ganda. In the eyes of other people, my skin is not smooth, my hairline is high. Now everyone take a photo of me and spread it on the Internet. Laugh at me, criticize me, say what you want to say. I don’t care.)
(Because even if my face/skin may be rough, my hairline is high, I am beautiful. For me, I am am beautiful.)
Vice’s courage to expose his flaws has received the praise of netizens.
