In a news from Free Malaysia Today, Redzuawan Ismail, more popularly known as Chef Wan was quoted as saying that the Philippines has the worst food in Asia.
“The Philippines is known to have the worst food in Asia, ask any chef and they will tell you I am right.”
Wan also said that Malaysia should have been the top choice (Taiwan topped the CNN list).
“My top five choices in terms of variety should be: number one Malaysia, followed by Italy, Thailand, Japan and India.”
Wan’s remarks sparked outrage among netizens, especially Filipinos.

A wiseman once said, "You don't have to make something wrong to prove something right." #ChefWan's bitter comment was done in bad taste.

Who is Chef Wan?
Chef Wan, also known as the ‘Food Ambassador of Malaysia’, is Tourism Malaysia’s Culinary Ambassador. He also has cooked for many famous personalities like Former US President Bill Clinton and the Sultan of Brunei. Born in Singapore, Chef Wan is considered as Malaysia’s Jamie Oliver or Martha Stewart. He also has a show on Nat Geo TV, East bites West.
In March 2014, Wan was also involved in a controversy that sparked outrage among netizens when he posted a photo on Instagram holding an object with a caption: “Two objects in Perth, and this I thought was one of them, the MAS plane’s door. However, after scrutinising it, it turned out to be the old toilet door from Cik Kiah’s house on Morib Beach. Frustrated.” His post angered many netizens as it was during the time the Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 was missing. He then made an apology and said he made the post just to get reactions from netizens.
