Social media has become an effective tool in warning netizens against people trying to take advantage or victimize others. Many of these stories have gone viral and became instrumental in preventing similar incidents from happening.
A photo of a man who allegedly attempted to rob a passenger while inside a jeepney en route to Alabang via Muntinlupa circulated on social media.
In a Facebook post Ziri Cerdeña made on Wednesday, June 3, she said that she noticed something unusual about the man sitting next to her in the jeepney. Since she had an initial impression that the man is a robber or a maniac, she thought of taking pictures of him.
Cerdeña’s instincts proved to be right. After alighting from the jeepney, someone informed her that her bag had been slashed.
Fortunately, the man failed in stealing from her as the laptop inside her bag prevented the man from accessing her other belongings.
After posting her story on Facebook, Cerdeña was surprised to receive messages from other people who were victimized by the same man.

Cerdeña’s case is not different from other jeepney robbery stories, but her story should serve as a warning for commuters to be more vigilant while inside PUVs.
