Romantic or not? Ayan Zhademov, a 20-year-old male student from Kazakhstan, dressed up as his girlfriend in an attempt to save her from taking an exam. His unnamed girlfriend was worried about her upcoming Unified National Testing, an exam in Kazakhstan which school students must take when finishing school to get into university.
Like a knight in shining armor, Zhademov tried to fool the exam administrator, but was, unsurprisingly, caught. Zhademov tried to copy his girlfriend’s look by wearing a black wig, putting on make-up and dressing up in her white blouse and grey skirt. On top on that, he tried talking his way out of it in a high voice–but it was obvious he was a man.
“We suspected it might be another woman that had taken the candidate’s place, but we never suspected it was a man that had taken her place. At least not until he started speaking,” said a spokesperson for the exam board.
Zhademov was fined 1,400 GBP (roughly around P10,000) for his actions. As for his girlfriend, she was told to wait until next year to take the exam.
Students in the school had mixed reactions to this odd story. Some saw the act as “stupid, but very romantic” while others praised Zhademov for his gallant act. A businessman had even agreed to pay for half Zhademov’s fine as he was delighted to see romance was still alive and well.
