Sleeping with onions in your socks at night can remove toxins

Does it sound a little weird to have onions in your socks when you go to bed at night? Yes, it does, but if you knew what good it did, you’d do it every night.

Studies have shown that placing an onion over the foot can then stimulate the very many nerve endings on our feet. Approximately, each foot has 7,000 meridians, that is, in Chinese medicine, this is all connected directly with the nervous system and the different organs. Meridians act as very powerful electrical circuits within the body.

But since we wear shoes often, these often become dormant, thus the lack of acupuncture to help the meridians or nerves in any way. Chinese doctors believe walking outside barefoot stimulates the meridians on the bottom of the feet, but for those who don’t want to, they just stick a slice of onion in each sock every night.

Onions have the ability to absorb bacteria and cleanse the body.  When the phosphoric acid (the substance from onions that makes you cry when you cut them open) enters the bloodstream it can be a cheap and simple detoxification method.

Onions have healing properties and are considered a natural home remedy for various illnesses. Onions in the socks while sleeping encourages the natural healing powers of the onion to go to work through the skin (also know as trans-dermal application) which purifies the blood, kills bacteria and germs, absorbs toxins, and consequently affect the corresponding organ (see the diagram below).

While some call it a hoax, elders have attested to this being very effective so it may be something worthwhile to try.

Just remember to use organic onions since others are loaded with chemicals and pesticides. And if it doesn’t work, at least the onion can help purify the air around you. It’s properties don’t just work on the body, but on your surroundings as well.
