Netizens are sharing a post on Facebook in hopes that the culprit of a hit-and-run incident will be apprehended. According to netizen John Paul Escario, a student was allegedly hit by a silver Toyota Avanza with plate no. UIQ 764 in front of Cypress Towers Condo in Taguig, Metro Manila, early this morning, June 25, 2015.
In a report on ABS-CBN News, the 15-year-old student was apparently riding a bicycle to school when he was hit by the Avanza. Eyewitness accounts reported that the multi-purpose vehicle did not stop to check whether the teen was all right; instead, it quickly sped off as if nothing happened. Escario said that the plate number he posted along with the teen’s photos was from other eyewitnesses.
The post has already reached Top Gear Philippines’ Facebook page. According to the page’s admin, they were able to check with the LTO regarding the plate number. Based on their research, the plate number matches with the vehicle’s make and color.
Checked with LTO and the plate number matches vehicle make/model and color. If you’re the owner of this car and you have been mistakenly tagged, please let us know. But if you are indeed the culprit, you need to surrender yourself as your vehicle ID is all over social media now. – Top Gear Philippines
The youngster was pictured sitting on the sidewalk, dazed and bloodied.
Taguig Emergency Rescuers were also pictured on the scene, attending to the young man, while an ambulance was on stand-by to bring him to the hospital.
Right now, the culprit has not been apprehended yet. So netizens are forming a post-sharing brigade so that it may reach the driver or someone who has an idea about the car’s whereabouts.
We are positive that the culprit will be apprehended soon, especially with this many people searching for him/her and the car.
UPDATE as of 5 PM, June 25, 2015:
In a comment on Top Gear Philippines’ post regarding the hit-and-run incident, Aica Dalangin shared that Vhecz Jimenez Hermoso was able to track down the car. The car is allegedly registered under the name of BPI RENTAL CORP, with an address at the 8th Floor BPI Bldg., Ayala Ave. Cor Paseo, City of Makati. The details supposedly came from LTO Malabon.
Based on replies on this comment, this means the car is under lease from BPI. Although this still does not provide us with the name of the driver or car owner, this is already one step closer to solving the case since the company should have records regarding the vehicle.
An MMDA social media admin also commented on the post, revealing they had forwarded the details of the incident and the car (from LTO records) to the Taguig City Police. According to the post, “the Taguig Police Traffic Bureau and investigators are already on the case with the details.”
