The goal of cosmetic surgery is to improve or enhance a person’s appearance and self-esteem. But this wasn’t the case for Ellowe Alviso.
Prior to undergoing cosmetic surgery, Ellowe was quite attractive. In fact, he participated in various talent search competitions when he was 16 years old. However, Ellowe still wanted to change the way he looked.
This prompted Ellowe, who wanted to have an aquiline nose and a cleft chin, to seek the help of a nurse identified as Kashika. Kashika, who allegedly had knowledge in collagen injection, assured Ellowe that the procedure was safe.
Two years after the procedure, Ellowe’s face began to change as his nose and chin started to swell.
Speaking to GMA 7’s Unang Balita, Ellowe said:“Hindi nawawala yung pamamanas niya. Lalong lumalaki nang lumalaki na parang lumalapad po yung mukha ko.”
(The swelling didn’t go away. My face got bigger and bigger that it seemed to have expanded.)
According to Dr. Vicente Gil, a physician at the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center, the collagen injected into Ellowe’s face was not pure. Dr. Gil explained that the impure collagen was rejected by Ellowe’s body which caused the infection and swelling of his nose and chin. It also caused damage to his skin.
Last year, Ellowe filed a case against Kashika for illegal practice of medicine. The case is still pending with the Prosecutor’s Office in Laguna.
