Pet owners who intend to file a case against drivers who hit their pets may get assistance from the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). The organization offers free review of witness affidavit if owners can prove that there was violation of RA8485 The Animal Welfare Act or RA9482 The Anti Rabies Act. You can email all the info needed and affidavit to [email protected] CC: [email protected].
According to PAWS, hit-and-run and other vehicular accidents can be prevented if pets are kept inside the owner’s residence or property or supervised by the owner or a guardian outside.
Moreover, allowing a pet to roam freely without a leash in public places even in the presence of its owner is a violation of The Anti-Rabies Act.
