LOOK: Newborn baby’s hand gets burned due to mishandling of IV insertion

Through a Facebook post, netizen Lhea Lhiza Telan aired her complaint against nurses and doctors at the Isabela Provincial Hospital.

On her account, Telan posted photos of the hands of her less than a month-old nephew who allegedly suffered from IV burn due to mishandling of IV insertion. Telan, whose grandfather suffered the same mishap from the said hospital, also posted photos of her grandfather’s hand.

Telan’s post, which was shared on the gossip site Fashion Pulis, earned various comments from netizens.

One commenter pointed out that both parents and hospital workers are responsible for the patient. Moreover, the commenter encouraged families of patients to report problems to doctors or nurses immediately.

Another registered nurse suggested that the attending nurse should be penalized as it is his or her responsibility to regularly monitor the IV site particularly in newborns.
