Protester from Hong Kong “assaulted” police with her breast

A 30-year-old protester from Hong Kong was found guilty after allegedly assaulting a police officer with her breast during a rally of Hong Kong residents against mainland shoppers.

Local residents had gathered to protest against mainlanders who flock to the territory to buy goods and “hog resources.” Mainlanders apparently bought shelves of products at lower tax rates and sold them across the border. This resulted in an increase in the prices of items ranging from groceries such as milk powder to real estate.

Protester Ng Lai-ying, along with three others, were accused of assaulting and obstructing or resisting police officers in a violent protest in Yuen Long. Ng said Chief Inspector Chan had brushed Ng’s left breast while reaching for the strap of her bag, after which Ng had reportedly shouted, “Indecent assault!” It was proven in court, however, that it was Ng who bumped into his upper right arm with her breast and then made the false accusation.

Deputy Magistrate Chan accused the woman of “trumping up the allegation.” The Magistrate ruled that Ng had apparently lied about being assaulted and called her reputation-damaging claims “malicious,” according to SCMP.

The magistrate said to Ng, “You used your female identity to trump up the allegation that the officer had molested you.”

It should be noted, though, that it was bizarre Ng only filed a complaint for the alleged indecent assault rather than for being supposedly pushed onto the ground by police resulting in some bloody injuries.

Ng, along with her companions, was sentenced 3.5 months in jail for their violent acts during the protest.
