Study: What you wear influences how you think

There is a science behind why we need to “suit up” for success. It’s not just because it looks neat or pleasing to the eye, but it actually does something to influence our choices.

A study on the “Cognitive Consequences of Formal Clothing” revealed a lot about how our thinking is influenced by the way we clothe ourselves.

The study involved two groups of people:

What was revealing about the study is that we wear can help you arrive at a decision.

For example, if you wear this…

You would be inclined to think of larger goals because you think abstractly. It means you can think of larger goals when you wear formal clothing.

The study also revealed that wearing formal clothing can also make one feel socially distant from his peers.

This confirms why we need to wear a power suit, if we really need some boost in the way we think and act.

So, anytime you need to impress, or if you just feel stressed, a power-dress is the way to go.
